While the folks were visiting we thought we should visit the Oman fjords in Musandam. While only 3 hours from Dubai, this amazing coastline seems like another World. We woke up at the crack of dawn to make the trek to Khasab, where we had a dhow waiting for us to ferry us along the fjords. Before we were able to get to Khasab, we had to cross through the UAE/Oman border. As much fun as stamps are, we were glad to pass through relatively quickly, so that we could get some food before our boat launched off.
Thanks to a bit of a wind scaring off the punters, we had the dhow to ourselves. We were so grateful for this when, after an hour of marvelling at the small towns and rock formations, we saw some dolphins. The last thing you want when you are marvelling at some of John West’s finest is a large German asking if they can swim with them.
Anyway, long story short, totally worth the visit. Our only regret was not going for longer.
I want to visit Oman.
